Matthew Finn
Matthew Finn has been working in IT and Telecommunications for more than 15 years, having held a range of positions working for international organizations, agencies of the United Nations and as a consultant to numerous national governments.
From 1992, he spent more than six years at the International Telecommunication Union—a specialized agency of the United Nations—dealing with government ministers and industry leaders from all over the world. In this role he was also responsible for implementing a series of technology assistance programs for least developed and newly industrializing countries.
From 1998, Matthew worked as a government consultant before taking up a position working with the Chief Executive Board (CEB) of the United Nations System in 1999. Chaired by the UN Secretary General, the CEB is the principal inter-agency committee bringing together the highest level officials of the UN system.
Based in New York and Geneva, he advised on technology development and the implementation of standards, policies and recommended practices relative to Information Communications Technology.
Joining SITA — the world’s leading provider of technology solutions to the air transport industry — he was first appointed to the position of Manager, Government Relations (2001); then to Senior Portfolio Manager, Transportation Security (2003); and ultimately to the position of Director, Government & Security Solutions.
Today, Matthew represents SITA in a range of international forums and is also author of numerous industry papers dealing with identity management, passenger screening, border control, risk assessment and transportation security.
